Kyrgyzstan explores direct flights between Bishkek, Shanghai PHOTO
Kyrgyzstan is working to establish a direct air link between Bishkek and Shanghai as part of efforts to expand its international aviation network and strengthen ties with China.
State-owned OJSC Airports of Kyrgyzstan said discussions on launching the new route took place during a working meeting with representatives of China Eastern Airlines, one of China's largest carriers, Caliber.Az reports via Kyrgyz media.
The two sides explored the possibility of introducing direct flights on the Shanghai–Bishkek–Shanghai route, according to the company.

Manasbek Samidinov, Chairman of the Board of OJSC Airports of Kyrgyzstan, said the proposed service forms part of the country's broader strategy to expand its international route network and integrate Kyrgyzstan more closely into the global aviation system.
According to Samidinov, direct flights between Bishkek and Shanghai would create new opportunities for tourism, business, trade and broader international cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China.
The companies did not announce a timeline for the launch of the proposed route.
