Kyrgyzstan fully restores power after major grid disruption
14 August 2026 20:25
Kyrgyzstan’s electricity system has returned to normal operation following a disruption, with power supplies fully restored, the country’s Ministry of Energy said.
The ministry said technical teams had taken the necessary steps to balance the system’s load and stabilize its operation, allowing reliable electricity supplies to resume within a short period.
“Energy system specialists promptly took the necessary measures to stabilize the operating mode,” the ministry said in a statement.
On the afternoon of August 14, widespread power outages were reported in four Central Asian countries at once—Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
In Bishkek, residents began reporting power outages around 3:00 p.m. local time.
