Kyrgyzstan’s president opens up about family deaths in traffic crashes Video
Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Zhaparov has opened up about personal tragedies caused by road accidents during a public meeting with citizens at the state-owned enterprise Unaa.
Zhaparov revealed that his brother and sister-in-law were killed in a traffic accident caused by a drunk driver. The driver crossed into the oncoming lane and struck the rear wheel of their car, causing it to overturn. While the couple was killed, their four children, who were also in the vehicle, survived the crash, Caliber.Az reports per Kyrgyz media.
The president also recalled the death of his eldest son in 2019. His 27-year-old son was riding a motorcycle when another driver, who had violated traffic rules by crossing a double solid line while overtaking, collided with him.
Zhaparov emphasized that such incidents are far from rare, noting that road accidents claim numerous lives and have profound consequences for families across Kyrgyzstan.
