Kyrgyzstan sets date for early parliamentary elections
30 September 2025 09:32
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has scheduled early parliamentary elections for 30 November 2025.
The move follows last week’s decision by deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) to dissolve themselves. Lawmakers had begun collecting signatures for self-dissolution several weeks earlier, citing political deadlock, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
Under Kyrgyz law, early parliamentary elections must be held within 40 to 65 days after the dissolution of parliament.
Originally, parliamentary elections were planned for November 2026, with presidential elections expected in January 2027.
