Kyrgyzstan to start printing national currency in near future
In the near future Kyrgyzstan will start to print national currency within the country, President Sadyr Japarov said.
The president made the remarks during a ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency, Sputnik-Kyrgyzstan reports.
Japarov expressed pointed out the prominent Kyrgyz statesmen, who played a significant role in this process.
The president recalled that Kyrgyzstan was one of the first countries of the former Soviet Union to put its national currency into circulation.
In February, he reported that the necessary equipment to print the national currency had already been purchased.
The Kyrgyz som turned 30 years old in 2023. On May 10, 1993, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan put into circulation the first national currency.
Currently, soms are printed in France and Great Britain.
