Kyrgyzstan, US seek to expand trade, agricultural cooperation PHOTO
Kyrgyz Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry, Erlist Akunbekov, has held talks with US Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Lesslie Viguerie in Bishkek, focusing on strengthening bilateral trade and economic ties.
According to a statement published on the ministry's official website, the discussions centered on expanding cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the United States, with particular emphasis on the agricultural sector.
The sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in deepening cooperation in areas of shared economic benefit and identified agriculture as a key area for future collaboration.
Particular attention was devoted to increasing Kyrgyzstan's agricultural exports to the United States. The meeting addressed measures to support Kyrgyz producers seeking access to the US market, including certification procedures, compliance with phytosanitary requirements, quality standards and packaging regulations.
The participants also underlined the importance of introducing modern technologies and equipping the agricultural sector with advanced machinery to enhance productivity and competitiveness.
Concluding the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain close contact and continue cooperation on the priority areas discussed.
