Large-scale drone attack: Ukrainian air forces intercept over 200
On the night of November 1, Russian forces carried out one of the largest drone attacks on Ukraine this year, deploying 223 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The drones, including Shahed, Geran, and other types, were launched from multiple locations across Russia—Kursk, Bryansk, Oryol, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk—as well as from Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea. Ukrainian authorities said approximately 140 of the UAVs were Shahed-type drones, Caliber.Az reports per Ukrainian media.
Ukraine’s air defences responded with a combination of fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups. By 9:30 a.m. local time, Ukrainian forces had shot down or suppressed 206 of the incoming drones over northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.
Despite the largely successful interception, 17 drones managed to strike targets in seven different locations. Ukrainian officials are assessing the extent of the damage.
