Latvia blocks five Russian websites over "pro-Russia content"
Latvia has blocked access to five Russian websites, citing concerns that their content promotes a positive view of Russia.
The move targets sites accused of shaping favourable public opinion towards Russia, Caliber.Az reports via Latvian media.
The blocked platforms include the Russian Historical Society website (historyrussia.org), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office portal in Ulan-Ude (buryatia.mid.ru), and the Russian State Hydrometeorological University site (rshu.ru).
Other affected sites are eurasiaru.org and 19rusinfo.ru.
The National Electronic Mass Media Council of Latvia reportedly received a government report detailing the review of the websites.
The document stated that the content “contradicts the interests of Latvia’s information and national security” and contributes to promoting a positive perception of Russian history and Russia itself.
