Latvia plans joint drone manufacturing venture with Ukraine
29 June 2026 11:01
Latvia plans to establish a joint venture with Ukraine to manufacture drones, according to statements by Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs.
Kulbergs said the planned facility would be built in Latvia's border region, initially citing the need to create jobs and stimulate economic development in the area, Caliber.Az reports via Latvian media.
He also said the location would have strategic value, allowing Latvia to rapidly deploy interceptor drones in the event of security threats near its borders with Russia and Belarus.
According to the prime minister, such a capability could reduce the need to rely on more costly aircraft for certain defensive operations.
