Latvia to donate firefighting vehicles, rescue equipment to Ukraine
The Latvian government will transfer 16 firefighting vehicles and specialised rescue equipment from the State Fire and Rescue Service to Ukraine free of charge.
A farewell ceremony is scheduled for this morning, attended by Minister of the Interior Rihards Kozlovskis, leadership from the State Border Guard Service, and representatives of the Tavi draugi society, Caliber.Az reports via Latvian media.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ initiative on July 8, authorising the donation of the vehicles and equipment to support Ukraine’s ongoing needs.
The firefighting vehicles will be transported to Ukraine by volunteers from the State Border Guard Service, who have committed to delivering the aid in their own time outside of official duties.
