Latvian defence minister resigns after drone incident linked to Ukraine

Latvian Defence Minister Andris Spruds has announced his resignation following an incident involving unmanned aerial vehicles allegedly linked to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Spruds said he was stepping down to prevent the Latvian military from becoming involved in domestic political disputes, LSM reports. 

“I have decided to resign to protect the Latvian army from being drawn into a political campaign,” he said.
