Lebanese PM calls on Israel to end "destructive actions"

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has called on Israel to halt what he described as “destructive actions” and establish a clear timetable for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.

Salam made the remarks during a meeting in Beirut with US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, General Joseph Clearfield, Head of the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L), and a US military delegation.

According to a statement on the meeting, the discussions focused on the military aspects of the ongoing negotiation process and the security situation in southern Lebanon.

Salam urged Israel to end its “destructive actions” and called for an expansion of the scope of pilot zones as part of efforts to advance the process.

He also stressed the need for a clearly defined schedule for the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanese territory.
