Lebanon's President, US Secretary of State hold talks on ceasefire push

Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun held a phone call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which the two sides discussed efforts to secure a ceasefire, according to the Lebanese presidency.

The presidency said Aoun received a call from Rubio in which he expressed gratitude for Washington’s efforts to reach a ceasefire and for its support “at all levels”.

Rubio, for his part, reaffirmed ongoing US efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire as a step towards establishing peace, security and stability in Lebanon.

He also reiterated Washington’s support for President Aoun and praised his positions, according to the statement.
