Lithuania imposes month-long border restrictions on Belarus checkpoints

Belarusian border authorities have received formal notification from Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service, under the Ministry of the Interior, confirming that the Lithuanian government adopted a resolution titled “On Restriction and Suspension of Crossing the State Border of the Republic of Lithuania” on October 29, 2025, according to the State Border Guard Committee via BelTA.

The resolution imposes restrictions on the movement of individuals and vehicles through the Miadininkai (Belarusian: Kamenny Log) checkpoint, effective until 01:00 Belarusian time on December 1, 2025.

These restrictions do not apply to the following categories:

• Holders of diplomatic or service passports, or individuals carrying diplomatic mail of the Republic of Lithuania;
• Persons travelling under a Simplified Transit Document (STD) issued in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) No. 693/2003 of April 14, 2003;
• Citizens of the Republic of Lithuania and their family members (as defined in Article 2, paragraph 26 of the Lithuanian Law “On the Legal Status of Aliens”) returning to Lithuania;
• Foreign nationals holding a valid residence permit in Lithuania and returning to the country;
• Foreign nationals arriving on humanitarian visas issued by Lithuanian diplomatic missions;
• Citizens of EU member states, the European Economic Area, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, the Holy See (Vatican City State), and Ukraine, along with their family members (as defined in Article 2, paragraph 26 of the Lithuanian Law “On the Legal Status of Aliens”);
• Accredited staff of diplomatic missions or consular offices of the above-mentioned countries in Belarus, who are Belarusian citizens travelling on official duties.

Additionally, border crossing at Miadininkai (Kamenny Log) remains permitted in exceptional cases upon request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.

Meanwhile, registration of individuals and vehicles at the Lithuanian border crossing point Šalčininkai (Belarusian: Beniakoni) has been fully suspended.
