Lithuania issues alert as drone approaches from Belarus direction
Authorities in Lithuania have declared an air raid alert in parts of the country after a drone was detected near its border, prompting a response involving NATO airspace patrols.
According to a statement posted by Lithuania’s Ministry of Defence on the social media platform X, the alert was issued after the unmanned aerial vehicle was identified in airspace close to the national border.

Preliminary information from the ministry indicated that the drone was likely approaching from the direction of Belarus, raising security concerns in the region.
In response to the incident, the ministry confirmed that allied measures had been activated.
“NATO Baltic Air Policing has been activated,” the Ministry of Defence said.
