Lithuania, Poland agree to postpone reopening of border crossings with Belarus
30 October 2025 16:45
Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene announced on October 30 that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has agreed to delay the planned reopening of border crossings between Poland and Belarus.
The two leaders discussed the issue during a phone call on October 29 and agreed to coordinate their actions concerning the Belarusian border, Caliber.Az reports per Reuters.
This decision follows Lithuania's recent closure of its land border with Belarus, which will remain in effect until the end of November. The closure, enacted earlier this week, comes in response to a rising number of smuggling incidents involving balloons launched from Belarus, which were found drifting across the border into Lithuanian territory.
