Lithuania records warmest June temperature ever
Lithuania has set a new national temperature record for June after the mercury climbed to 36.3 degrees Celsius in the southern resort town of Druskininkai on June 28, the country's national weather service announced.
"We now have a new overall record for the highest temperature ever recorded in the month of June," forecaster Paulius Starkus told LRT.
The previous June record of 35.7C was set in 2019 at the Kaišiadorys weather station.
According to Meteo LT, the latest milestone marks the eighth daily temperature record broken in Lithuania this year. The country recorded 23 daily heat records in 2025, compared with 18 in 2024, 16 in 2023, 13 in 2022, and six in 2021.
Between 2021 and 2026, heat records in Lithuania have been recorded approximately eight times more frequently than cold records, Meteo LT said.
