Lithuania signs €156-million deal with Swedish manufacturer for anti-tank ammunition
Lithuania has signed a €156 million contract with Swedish manufacturer Saab Dynamics to procure anti-tank ammunition, including various munitions for Carl Gustaf recoilless rifles and AT4 disposable anti-tank launchers.
According to Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence, the deal includes the purchase of 84mm ammunition for Carl Gustaf systems worth more than €60 million, as well as AT4 single-use anti-tank launchers valued at over €96 million, Caliber.Az reports, citing LRT.
Lithuanian Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas said the procurement is aimed at strengthening the country’s defence capabilities.
The Ministry of Defence emphasised that the ammunition will significantly enhance the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ ability to counter enemy armoured vehicles and to destroy fortified positions and enemy personnel in open terrain.
