Lithuania turns back nearly 40 migrants at Belarus border

Lithuanian authorities have denied entry to 38 irregular migrants who attempted to cross from Belarus over the past 24 hours, the State Border Guard Service said.
According to the agency, Latvian border guards turned back 22 foreign nationals on April 28, while Polish services recorded no attempts at illegal crossings on April 27, Caliber.Az reports citing LRT.
Since the beginning of the year, around 650 irregular migrants have been prevented from entering Lithuania. By comparison, more than 1,600 attempts were recorded in 2025 and 1,002 in 2024.
Overall, since the start of the migration crisis in 2021, Lithuanian border guards have thwarted more than 25,000 attempts to illegally cross the border.
