Lithuanian president urges caution over US troop redeployment in Europe
President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda has called for restraint in drawing conclusions about the possible redeployment of US troops in Europe, saying no final decisions appear to have been made.
He expressed hope that, following any adjustments in troop deployment, US forces would continue to maintain a presence in Lithuania, Caliber.Az reports, citing LRT.
“As far as I know, the US leadership is certainly closely monitoring the situation in this region and fully understands our security needs,” Nausėda stated.
The president also noted that the situation regarding force positioning remains unclear and said it is not yet possible to determine whether the US military presence in Lithuania will increase.
“The decision lies solely with the United States,” Nausėda emphasised.
