Maan: Israel-Hamas prisoner exchange deal expected within days
An exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas may be finalised in the coming days, informed sources told Ma'an News Agency.
According to the sources, Hamas has responded positively to the latest proposal, which includes a 60-day ceasefire and a large-scale prisoner exchange. The deal is expected to be signed and officially announced later this week, or by early next week at the latest, Caliber.Az reports.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials cited by Kipa news outlet suggested that a ceasefire could be announced as early as Sunday, July 27, and possibly even by Friday, July 25, if remaining details are settled.
As outlined in the current framework, the deal would include the release of 10 Israeli prisoners in exchange for 150 Palestinian detainees serving long-term sentences, along with 1,100 prisoners from the Gaza Strip who were arrested after October 7.
Additionally, the agreement would see the exchange of remains: 18 deceased Israelis would be returned in exchange for 180 Palestinian bodies currently held by Israel—10 for each Israeli captive.
