Macron does not rule out future presidential return

French President Emmanuel Macron said he will leave office next May after completing his current term, but did not rule out the possibility of returning to the presidency in the future.

Speaking at the Lumière Summit, Macron noted that France’s Constitution allows a president to serve two consecutive terms, Caliber.Az reports.

“Let’s be clear: under our constitution, you are entitled to two consecutive terms. So I will finish my term next May, and the French people will elect somebody else,” he said.

However, Macron added that he did not completely rule out a future return to the presidency.

“But I don’t exclude anything. It’s quite unusual to come back, but we will see. Life is inventive, sometimes more than movies,” he said.
