The report states that Macron did not comment on the court verdict but expressed doubts about the necessity of immediately enforcing the ruling or placing Sarkozy in custody following the first-instance judgment.

Journalists also noted that the president highlighted the difference in legal protections, pointing out that sitting heads of state enjoy immunity, unlike former presidents.
