Macron hopes to avoid energy crisis
French President Emmanuel Macron has said that France does not expect an energy supply shortage despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and fluctuations in global energy prices.
Speaking at a press conference in Athens, Macron stated that such a scenario “is not the most likely at present” and added that the government is “keeping the situation under control,” Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
He said France has already introduced support measures for certain sectors and households, particularly those most dependent on transport.
While acknowledging that global price movements are being felt by citizens, he stressed that they do not pose a risk of energy shortages.
The French president also underlined France’s interest in the swift reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and continued negotiations between the relevant parties.
He noted that all parties are "in the same boat" and depend on the geopolitical situation.
Earlier, TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanné warned of potential risks of energy shortages in France amid developments surrounding Iran.
