Macron proposes moratorium after strikes on Gulf energy sites
French President Emmanuel Macron has called for a moratorium on strikes against civilian infrastructure, including energy and water facilities, following the March 18 attacks on energy sites in the Gulf states.
In a post on social media platform X, Macron said that after the attacks on oil and gas industry facilities in Qatar and Iran, he spoke with US President Donald Trump and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Caliber.Az cites the post.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) accused the US and Israel of attacking their oil and gas facilities, including the South Pars natural gas field.
“It is in our common interest to implement, without delay, a moratorium on strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, particularly energy and water supply facilities,” Macron wrote in the post.
“Civilian populations and their essential needs, as well as the security of energy supplies, must be protected from military escalation,” the French leader added.
