Macron’s office labels Trump attack on France as "surprising"
The office of French President Emmanuel Macron said criticism from US President Donald Trump, who targeted France over its refusal to allow US planes flying to Israel to pass through French airspace, was “surprising.”
Officials emphasised that France’s position has not changed since the start of the conflict with Iran, Caliber.Az reports via Reuters.
“We are surprised by this tweet. France has not changed its position since day one (of the conflict), and we confirm this decision,” Macron's office said
Earlier, Trump criticised Paris for refusing to allow US planes flying to Israel to pass through French airspace and noted that France did not support the US in its operation against Iran, adding that the US will “remember” this.
