Macron, Starmer to hold video conference on Ukraine with coalition partners
French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer are set to hold a video conference with members of the so-called “coalition of the willing” on Ukraine, the French TF1 channel reported, citing the Élysée Palace.
The talks are scheduled to begin at 12:15 local time and will brief other coalition participants on the outcomes of the European leaders’ meetings with US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Discussions are also expected to focus on the security guarantees that Western allies plan to offer Kyiv once hostilities have ended.
Earlier, Macron said that he hoped the coalition discussions would yield more concrete responses on the security guarantees the US might provide.
President Trump has stated that the United States will be involved in ensuring Ukraine’s future security.
Later in the day, a virtual summit of European Union leaders is also expected to review the outcomes of the Washington talks, European Council President António Costa said.
