Macron: US, China, Russia aligned against Europe
French President Emmanuel Macron has warned that Europe is facing mounting geopolitical and economic pressure from the US, China, and Russia, describing the current period as a “unique moment” that demands urgent European action and unity.
Speaking on the global balance of power, Macron argued that major world powers are increasingly pursuing policies that run counter to European interests, leaving the continent in a strategically vulnerable position.
“I know President Trump very well and I know his character. It's not just President Trump's character or behavior and the United States. I would say since now 15 years number one issue is America and America first and I do respect that. The second priority is China."
Macron further warned that China’s industrial policies are having a direct and damaging impact on European competitiveness, particularly in manufacturing sectors.
"China today has overcapacity and is over-subsidizing many sectors, and is severely harming a large part of European industry. But look at the automotive industry and the machine tool sectors. Last year they destroyed literally 250,000 jobs"
He added that Europe risks falling behind unless it responds more decisively to these global shifts, pointing to job losses and structural pressure in key industries.
Macron concluded with a stark warning about the broader geopolitical alignment of major powers, calling it a critical turning point for Europe.
"We should not underestimate that this is a unique moment where a US president, a Russian president, a Chinese president are dead against the Europeans. This is the right moment for us — wake up. "
