Madonna, Taylor Swift among top winners at 2026 MTV VMAs PHOTO/VIDEO

Madonna and Taylor Swift were among the biggest winners at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 26.

Madonna, the ceremony’s leading nominee with 13 nominations, won seven awards overall, including Artist of the Year, Best Dance for Confessions II – The Film and Best Collaboration alongside Sabrina Carpenter for “Bring Your Love," Billboard writes. 

Swift, who received 11 nominations, won Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia” and Best Direction for “Opalite.” She also received the first-ever Artist Director Honours.

LISA won the opening award of the ceremony, taking Best Pop for “Dream” featuring Kentaro Sakaguchi, while Sienna Spiro was named Best New Artist.

BTS won Song of the Year for “Swim,” while Madonna and Carpenter took Best Collaboration.

The ceremony was hosted by Snoop Dogg and featured performances and tributes involving artists including Madonna, Kacey Musgraves, RAYE, SOMBR and Teddy Swims. Nirvana received the Video Vanguard Award.
