Maersk suspends cargo operations in Persian Gulf

One of the world’s largest shipping companies, Denmark’s A.P. Moller-Maersk A/S, has halted the acceptance and shipment of refrigerated, hazardous, and special cargo in Persian Gulf countries.

The company’s website published the announcement, stating:

“Effective immediately, we are suspending reefer, dangerous / special cargo acceptance in and out of UAE, Oman, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia until further notice,” Maersk’s press service warned.

Additionally, Maersk has suspended new bookings for shipments between Persian Gulf countries and India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, with the exception of Dammam and Al-Jubail ports in Saudi Arabia.
