Magnitude 6.3 earthquake strikes China’s Qinghai Province

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Haixi Prefecture in Qinghai Province in northwest China, with a depth of 10 km, the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) reported on June 16.
The epicenter was monitored at 37.80 degrees north latitude and 95.56 degrees east longitude, said a report issued by the CENC, Xinhua reports.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, and local authorities were assessing the situation.
The quake hit the high-altitude region at 5:06 p.m. Beijing time (0906 GMT) according to CENC.
Several aftershocks were also detected, including one measured at a magnitude of around 5.
