Magyar, von der Leyen to meet on April 29, discuss EU funds for Hungary
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will hold talks wth Hungary’s PM-elect, Péter Magyar, on Wednesday, April 29, during which the sides will discuss unblocking European Union funds allocated to Hungary.
European Commission spokesperson Olof Gill said the Brussels meeting will entirely focus on how to move forward and how to achieve meaningful progress, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
The European Commission declined to say whether the talks would also address the opening of EU accession negotiation clusters for Ukraine, which are currently blocked by Hungary’s incumbent government.
The spokesperson added that Brussels intends to engage with the new Hungarian government in a “structured and targeted” way to accelerate access for Hungarian citizens to EU funding.
He also noted that no further details would be provided at this stage, saying: “When there is more to say, we will say more.”
