Major fire and explosions hit car dealerships in Warsaw PHOTO / VIDEO

A major fire accompanied by a series of explosions broke out early on Thursday, July 23, in Warsaw, engulfing an auto repair facility and multiple car dealerships, emergency services said.

The blaze erupted around 05:00 local time on Krasnobrodzka Street in the Bródno district, according to Polish state broadcaster TVP.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple explosions, believed to have been caused by detonating vehicles and fuel tanks as the fire intensified. The flames spread rapidly, affecting an area of approximately 3,000 square metres.

Footage released by the State Fire Service of Poland showed the fire engulfing car dealerships operated by Ford Motor Company and Suzuki Motor Corporation.

More than 30 firefighting units were deployed to the scene, including teams specialising in chemical hazard response as well as drone units used to assess the scale of the blaze.

Firefighters brought the situation under control by 08:30 local time, authorities said.

Preliminary information indicated no fatalities or injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
