Major fire at clothing warehouse near Brussels triggers evacuations
A major fire broke out at a clothing warehouse in the Belgian city of Tubize on May 25, prompting evacuations and an emergency response from local authorities.
The fire occurred in a building covering around 1,000 square metres in the central part of the city, approximately 30 kilometres south of Brussels, according to RMF.
Thick, toxic smoke was reported rising from the site, leading authorities to evacuate residents from nearby neighbourhoods as a precaution.
Local officials activated the municipal emergency plan due to concerns over public health risks and the potential spread of hazardous substances.
No injuries have been reported so far, and emergency services continue to work at the scene to contain the blaze and assess damage.
