Major fire breaks out at recycling plant in London PHOTO / VIDEO

Around 100 firefighters tackle a major fire at a waste recycling plant in Deptford, southeast London, where about 50 tonnes of household waste have caught fire.

The blaze has blocked railway tracks, disrupting services to London Bridge station from New Cross.

Fire crews from East Greenwich, Old Kent Road, Deptford and surrounding areas have been deployed to the scene. Some 15 fire engines and around 100 firefighters are involved in the operation.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Firefighters are continuing efforts to bring the blaze under control.
