Major fire erupts at waste processing plant in Maastricht
A major fire broke out early in the morning at a waste processing facility in the port area of Maastricht, according to a report by L1 News.
Emergency services received the alert at approximately 5:30 a.m. local time. Fire crews classified the incident as a large-scale blaze, prompting the deployment of additional resources to bring the situation under control.
Authorities confirmed that there were no casualties, and the fire has since been contained.
Officials also indicated that hazardous substances are present at the site of the facility, although no detailed information has yet been released regarding their composition.
Firefighters dispatched reconnaissance teams to carry out air and safety measurements in the surrounding area. So far, no dangerous concentrations have been detected.
