Malaysia in talks with Iran over passage of stranded tankers
24 April 2026 18:37
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that his government is in talks with Iran to secure passage for two Malaysian-owned tankers carrying fuel supplies.
The vessels have already exited the Strait of Hormuz but are facing severe restrictions despite earlier clearance reportedly granted by the Iranian authorities, AP reports.
Anwar did not provide further details.
He added that one Malaysian vessel has already returned home, while another is expected to enter Malaysian waters soon. A third vessel remains stranded at port due to technical issues, he said.
