Maltese Deputy PM nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize
Malta’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Ian Borg, has put forward US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in fostering peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
According to Caliber.Az, Borg announced the nomination via a post on his Facebook page, describing Trump’s efforts as a “significant contribution to achieving a lasting resolution” between the two nations.
“Two weeks ago today, I met with President Trump and his wife in New York. As the person who led the OSCE in 2024, I worked with many individuals on the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, striving for a peace that was ultimately achieved this summer by the American President,” Borg wrote.
He added that he had personally presented Trump with a letter notifying him of the nomination, and encouraged him to continue his diplomatic efforts in other regions.
“I also encouraged him to continue his efforts in the Middle East and Ukraine. I am pleased to see today an increased commitment that is bringing us closer to peace,” Borg said.
