Man detained after grenade detonated near shop in Kharkiv
Police in Kharkiv, Ukraine, have detained a man who detonated a grenade near a shop in the city, the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kharkiv region announced.
According to police, the incident occurred on the evening of April 26, prompting the dispatch of a forensic investigation team to the scene, where officers documented damage to glass doors. Components of a UZRGM grenade fuse were also recovered.
Criminal investigators quickly identified the suspect, a 32-year-old man, who was subsequently detained.
Criminal proceedings have been opened on charges of illegal weapons handling and hooliganism. The charges carry a potential sentence of three to seven years in prison.
On the same day, another incident was reported in Kharkiv involving gunfire in the metro. A drunken man fired a blank pistol into the air inside a station. No injuries were reported.
