Marketplace fire in China kills eight, leaves 15 injured

Eight people lost their lives and 15 others were injured in a fire at a marketplace in the Qiaoxi District of Zhangjiakou City, in northern China's Hebei Province, on January 4.
The fire started at approximately 8:40 a.m. (GMT+8) at a market selling vegetables and other essential items, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Firefighters, along with emergency and medical teams, quickly arrived at the scene to carry out rescue efforts. By 10:10 a.m., the fire had been successfully extinguished. Search and rescue operations were concluded by midday. The injured have been treated in hospitals, and their conditions are said to be stable and not life-threatening. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
