Mass shooting in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park leaves two dead, nine wounded VIDEO

A mass shooting in the evening of May 26 in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park has left two people dead and nine others injured, including three teenagers, according to city officials.

Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel confirmed that the deceased victims were an adult man and an adult woman, Caliber.Az reports, citing US media.

Among the wounded are three teenagers between the ages of 15 and 17.

The shooting took place at approximately 10:27 p.m. near the intersection of Lemon Hill Drive and Poplar Drive. Bethel said multiple rounds were fired, and investigators are currently working to determine whether several firearms were used during the incident.

No suspects are in custody as of the morning of May 27, and no weapons have been recovered at the scene, Bethel added. Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.

Footage from Chopper 6 showed a significant police presence in the area as officers responded to the scene and began their investigation.

Earlier in the day, Fairmount Park had been filled with families and community members gathering for Memorial Day cookouts and celebrations. The shooting has cast a dark shadow over the holiday and has heightened concerns over gun violence in the city.
