Media: Afghanistan launches airstrikes on Pakistani "nuclear sites"

27 February 2026 14:56

Afghanistan’s armed forces have carried out airstrikes targeting what were described as a nuclear facility in Pakistan and a military base in the town of Kakul, located in the Abbottabad district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The strikes reportedly hit a military centre in the Kakul area as well as another site identified by sources as a nuclear facility, Caliber.Az reports per Ariana News on X.

Local sources said that following the attacks, hundreds of people who were killed or wounded were transported to a hospital in Islamabad. The extent of the damage and the number of casualties have not been independently verified.

There has been no immediate official confirmation from Pakistani authorities regarding the reported strikes or the claim that a nuclear facility was targeted.
