Media: China converts cargo ships into drone aircraft carriers

China has begun converting cargo ships into improvised aircraft carriers for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to The War Zone.

The report states that one medium-sized cargo ship has been transformed into a combat vessel capable of carrying modern strike drones. A modular electromagnetic aircraft launch system (EMALS) has been installed on the deck, designed to launch fixed-wing drones.

The publication also released photos from the Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai, showing small combat drones with large wingspans, resembling the “wingman drones” from the Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) series.
