Media: China supports Iran ahead of possible US, Israeli strikes
China is actively assisting Iran in preparing for potential attacks by the United States and Israel, providing weaponry, intelligence, and technological support systems, according to high-level sources cited by The National Interest.
The sources note that these actions aim to protect the strategic partnership between Beijing and Tehran, as well as China’s economic interests, including a 25-year cooperation agreement valued at $400 billion and China’s role in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Experts highlight that US and Israeli strikes in June 2025 acted as a “regional destabiliser with direct consequences for Chinese strategic, economic, and logistical interests,” prompting expanded technical cooperation with Iran.
In response, Tehran implemented China’s BeiDou satellite navigation system, replaced American and Israeli software with Chinese systems, and deployed long-range radars and HQ-9B surface-to-air missile complexes.
Additionally, China has limited new investments in Israel and may leverage the country’s dependence on Chinese medical supplies.
Beijing, however, does not plan direct military intervention, focusing instead on low-intensity measures, including intelligence sharing, monitoring US and Israeli force movements, and bolstering Iran’s defensive capabilities.
