Media: France sends Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier to Eastern Mediterranean

France is sending its aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and its strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean in response to escalating tensions in the Middle East, French broadcaster BFMTV reported.

According to the report, the carrier and its accompanying vessels are interrupting a mission in the Baltic Sea to reposition to the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Charles de Gaulle had previously participated in the military exercises “Orion-26,” the broadcaster noted.
