Media: Gaza ceasefire talks to be futile before US election
Negotiations regarding a ceasefire in Gaza will not yield significant results until the presidential elections in the United States are concluded.
Ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip, held in Doha, are unlikely to produce significant results until the presidential election in the US is completed, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The recent consultations are focused less on reaching an agreement and more on "initiating the process itself." During the talks, the sides also discussed the situation in Lebanon, Iran, and its regional influence. The next round of discussions is set to begin in a few days.
On October 27, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced that he had proposed a two-day ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
The proposal includes the release of four hostages being held in the Gaza Strip, as well as the release of several Palestinian prisoners by Israel. The initiative suggests that humanitarian aid will be delivered to the Palestinian enclave during this period.
