Media: Germany sees surge in unauthorized drone incidents

Germany has witnessed a marked increase in unauthorized drone activity in 2025, with thousands of incidents recorded across the country.

 The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) reported that the total number of cases reached “a small four-digit figure,” averaging approximately three incidents per day, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

A representative of the German Interior Ministry noted that drone sighting reports are now being published biweekly, rather than quarterly, reflecting the government’s intensified efforts to combat potential espionage.

Intelligence agencies revealed that both small commercial drones and larger UAV formations have been observed operating in German airspace. Despite ongoing monitoring, authorities have yet to identify the individuals or groups responsible for deploying the drones. Most incidents remain unresolved and are documented in classified reports, underscoring the continuing challenges faced by security services in addressing this emerging threat.
