28 February 2026 11:43
Israeli media reports that General Amir Hatami, Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army, has been killed in a series of Israeli attacks on Iran, though Iranian authorities have yet to confirm the claim.

The strikes, which began on February 28, reportedly targeted multiple sites in Tehran. Explosions have been heard across the Iranian capital, with blasts also reported in several other locations throughout the country.
United States President Donald Trump then also said the US has begun “major combat operations” in Iran following the Israeli missile attacks.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials have warned of retaliation, with one telling Reuters that the country’s response “will be crushing.”
