Media: Israel expresses regret after strike damages synagogue in Tehran
Israel has voiced regret following a strike that struck a synagogue in Tehran, leaving the structure heavily damaged, The Times of Israel reports.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed responsibility for the April 7 operation, explaining that the intended target was a senior Iranian commander, while acknowledging that the synagogue suffered unintended damage during the attack.
Responding to an inquiry from The Times of Israel, the military clarified that the strike had been aimed at a high-ranking Iranian military figure.
“Reports were received that a nearby synagogue was also damaged in the strike. The IDF regrets the collateral damage to the synagogue and emphasizes that the strike was directed at a senior military target within the regime’s armed forces,” the IDF said.
