Media: Israel learned of Trump's Iran u-turn via Truth Social post

Israeli officials were informed of U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to cancel a planned military strike on Iran only after he announced it on his Truth Social platform, according to a report by Israel's Channel 12.

Senior Israeli officials were not briefed in advance of the announcement. The report also claimed that the U.S. military's Central Command had not been notified beforehand, The Times of Israel reports.

The unnamed Israeli official said senior Israeli officials had been left uninformed for several hours after President Donald Trump announced the decision on social media, adding that they had been forced to rely on the president's social media accounts for information about the situation.

Trump said late on August 1 that he had called off a major attack on Iran after receiving assurances from Tehran and other Middle Eastern countries that a framework had been agreed to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz and "end the Iran nuclear threat." He added that Israel supported the decision.
